VOTING ID. A PANACEA?

WHAT! You mean VOTER ID is NOT a cure to election fraud?

We apologize for our absence over the past several months. As most of you know, life often happens when you are making other plans. So it was for us and our weekly blogs. But we will try to be more frequent from this day forward.

Much has happened since our last blog. Peace has broken out, wars have continued, people have died, people have been killed, and storms have raged. Epithets have been slung about as frequently as evening meals. In fact, they have become so prevalent that words such as Nazi, racist, bigoted, and four-letter words we will not mention here, have lost their intended emphasis. Words often used by those with little understanding of their origins and true meanings.

PANACEA – “A remedy for all diseases, evils, or difficulties; a cure-all.” (American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 5th addition)

We want to focus today on the current push for VOTER ID. For those who may believe it will solve all voter fraud and produce elections free of fraud, we want you to consider the potential loopholes large enough to drive a Mack truck through. First, nearly every illegal alien in our Nation today has an ID. Many who came across our southern border during the last administration have already been given IDs, and in fact, many have even received Social Security numbers. In many states, especially those who claim sanctuary status, illegal aliens can walk into any department of motor vehicles and receive an ID, and with proper tests taken, can drive even if they cannot speak English. If one travels to a voting place and presents this ID, it only confirms who they are, not whether or not they are an actual citizen of our Nation. They do not have to provide a birth certificate or passport to obtain the driving privilege. Next, if they are provided a registration card to be able to vote, many of these same states only require the last four numbers of ANY Social Security number, and an address can be just about anywhere, a street corner, under a bridge, or a tent along any street. Those cards do ask if they are a citizen of the United States. But ask yourself this question. If you have lived in this country for any length of time, do you not consider yourself to be a citizen of this country, because that is where you live? We contend that this is a common mistake made, as no birth certificate is ever required to provide this proof. Finally, let us assume that an illegal alien never gets a driver’s license and never votes. The mere fact that this illegal alien is in a particular state, currently this person is considered in our National Census. The more illegal aliens in a state, the larger the numbers of House of Representatives that will be assigned in Congress to that state, and thus the greater influence that state wields over other states shunning the title of sanctuary.

There are other ways that elections are skewed through fraud. Dead people voting, people voting in more than one city, county, or state, people changing names or assuming the identity of another person, or through illicit activities by nefarious election clerks or volunteers. Unless all of these potential flaws are corrected in our National voting systems, no one should feel that VOTER ID will cure all ills, because it will not. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.
